Do It Yourself Framing: Rethink the Frame!
There is a good reason why framers charge so much! Despite how easy it may seem, it is actually pretty tough to make the precision cuts required for
do-it-yourself framing. If you want to frame your own photos and art in the traditional manner with matting, then you might want to reconsider. By the timeyou buy all of the DIY framing supplies and pay for the matt paper, you aren’t going to save much money. However, this is not meant to discourage you from do-it-yourself framing! Instead, if you want to frame your own photos, youshould think of some creative methods instead.

With DIY framing, you can completely rethink the frame. Instead of using a
standard frame, why not use an old window, stripped-down clocks, or embroideryframes? I even saw a really cool do-it-yourself frame that was made by cutting a window into a book cover.

Once you have rethought the frame, you can rethink the matting too. Get really creative with the matting of your do-it-yourself framing project by using interesting materials like fabric, cool papers, tiles, or whatever you can think of!
